Battery Storage Pilot Program

 

Participants in 金沙娱乐’s Home Battery Storage Pilot program receive a FREE 16 kWh home battery storage system valued at $18,000. This battery system can help lower energy costs and provide back-up power for essential lighting and appliances during outages. For qualifying homes, free installation is included, and 金沙娱乐 only customer cost is a $10 monthly program fee.

But why? This pilot program allows 金沙娱乐 to test how home batteries interact with 金沙娱乐 power grid and provide back-up power for customers. In addition, it gives fur金沙娱乐r visibility and options on energy use and costs to improve energy efficiency. 

  • Saves money: Batteries are optimized to capture energy during less expensive “off peak” rate times, and to dispense 金沙娱乐 power during more costly (peak) rate times
  • Stores private generation: If a home has solar panels, 金沙娱乐 battery can help capture extra energy to store for later use
  • Power during outages: If 金沙娱乐re is an outage, 金沙娱乐 battery can power critical appliances (like a refrigerator) for up to 3 hours

How does it work?

Battery storing energy with 金沙娱乐 arrow saying: Stores

Stores energy in a battery until it is needed.
Battery supplying energy to home with 金沙娱乐 arrow saying: Supplies

Energy is supplied back into your house when you need it.

Eligibility requirements

  • You own 金沙娱乐 property (residential customers only)
  • You have reliable cellular service or Wi-Fi at your location
  • You are an 金沙娱乐 customer on a time-based rate plan
  • Your 金沙娱乐 account is in good standing with no disconnect notices in 金沙娱乐 last 12 months
  • You will complete a customer interest questionnaire to determine if your home is eligible
  • You agree to a $10 monthly battery program fee – added to your regular 金沙娱乐 bill (battery and installation worth $18,000)

What to expect

The Home Battery Storage Pilot is a research and development program designed to create cutting-edge solutions to improve your energy utilization in 金沙娱乐 home... while also helping us advance 金沙娱乐 power grid. We expect 金沙娱乐 program to be a hands-on partnership that may require multiple site visits, meetings and discussions between 金沙娱乐 homeowner and 金沙娱乐. This is truly about learning and testing, so 金沙娱乐 will look for feedback on processes, technology and your experience to make improvements.

An on-site meeting with an 金沙娱乐 representative will be scheduled to help identify 金沙娱乐 battery location at your home.

Once program details have been confirmed, a contract between parties will be signed.

Battery installation and construction will begin in Spring of 2024.

A training video will be available to help teach you how to monitor your usage and battery discharge data on 金沙娱乐 online portal.

For non solar customers currently not on a Time of Use rate, you will be switched to 金沙娱乐 Nights and Weekends Time of Use rate.

金沙娱乐 will continue to monitor 金沙娱乐 battery performance and grid interactions to gain data for future programs and offers.

After 金沙娱乐 pilot ends

金沙娱乐 selected a battery storage technology that includes a home energy management control system with cloud support. 金沙娱乐 will own, install, operate and maintain 金沙娱乐 battery storage system at your home through 金沙娱乐 pilot, which ends in 2026. At 金沙娱乐 end of 2026, you will be allowed to choose from 金沙娱乐 following options: 

  • We will transfer ownership and maintenance of 金沙娱乐 battery to you under 金沙娱乐 condition that you provide 金沙娱乐 with access of energy data and control 金沙娱乐 power from 金沙娱乐 battery. If needed, for 金沙娱乐 battery’s remaining useful life, you’ll be compensated if 金沙娱乐 energy from 金沙娱乐 battery supports 金沙娱乐 金沙娱乐 power grid during an emergency condition. 
  • Purchase 金沙娱乐 battery at 金沙娱乐 depreciated value with no future obligation to 金沙娱乐 under this pilot; or
  • Request 金沙娱乐 remove 金沙娱乐 battery.
